The Parkmobile Group today announces that it has been shortlisted for two Intertraffic Innovation Awards. Intertraffic Amsterdam is the world’s largest exhibition for the traffic, parking and highways infrastructure sectors and takes place every two years. In 2016 Parkmobile was shortlisted twice and won the Parking Innovation Award. This year our Urban Mobility Control system in Paris has been nominated in the Parking category, while ParkNow and BMW are jointly competing for the Smart Mobility prize.
Two Innovations Working Together: BMW’s On-Street Parking Information and ParkNow
BMW’s On-Street Parking Information (OSPI) feature and ParkNow’s in-dash payments combine to deliver a world first for drivers – no parking pain. The ParkNow service, available in all BMWs* since February 2017, allows parking spaces at the roadside and in garages to be easily located, booked and paid for without the need for cash. No tickets, no hassle, and very fast.
ParkNow combines perfectly with BMW’s new OSPI service. First launched with the BMW 5 Series (and now available in all new BMWs models*), OSPI forecasts space availability based on historic traffic flows, parking meter data and transactions from parking apps. Colour-coding on the navigation map shows the likelihood of finding a free spot.
The integration of these systems within the dashboard is a major step forward in mobility, and the savings in time, emissions and stress will produce significant benefits for cities, the environment and drivers.
*In combination with options ConnectedDrive and Navigation System Professional.
Paris Takes Control of Urban Mobility
The Urban Mobility Control (UMC) Hub from ParkNow, recently launched in Paris, already manages millions of transactions from all parking channels to make it one Smart City. The Hub connects information from zones, parking machines, permits and cashless options. It monitors parking behaviour and utilisation data. Average duration times and price sensitivities can all be analysed to optimise the parking ecosystem.
The UMC Hub from ParkNow also processes all enforcement information – including from ANPR scanner cars – to keep the city running smoothly. It even handles the new French penalty system for drivers who over-stay. And when Paris predicts an imminent Pollution Day, the platform ensures that dynamic price adjustments discourage traffic while air quality is low. The Hub offers a robust on-demand management dashboard – essential for effective cost control, information management and reliable auditing. Managing urban mobility just got easier for cities of all sizes. Making our cities cleaner, healthier and more liveable.
“These nominations are proof that the Parkmobile Group is absolutely at the cutting edge of mobility innovation,” says Marc De Vries, CEO. “To be nominated twice a couple of years ago, and to repeat that feat this year with initiatives from across Europe, shows that the Group is leading the industry in the region.”
“Our Paris management hub shows how we are helping one of the world’s great cities to take control of its mobility. By bringing together multiple data feeds its controllers can optimise traffic flows and even address air quality issues. Other cities will follow. Meanwhile our Smart Mobility submission brings together BMW’s innovative parking space forecasting system with the perfect payment solution from ParkNow. And it all happens right there in the dashboard – it’s what drivers have been dreaming about!”
“I am pleased and proud that the Intertraffic judges have recognised the quality of these innovations. It spurs us on to continue pushing the envelope on all things mobility.”
